This workshop is suitable for Nursing Associates and allied HCPs developing skills to include RSV vaccination. It is a prerequisite that the student has already completed the “core training for immunisations” prior to attending this course.
The course will explore RSV Virus, prevalence and risks to the individual, before discussing the vaccination in detail and the governance for safe practice. The HCP will have access to the relevant paperwork for practice and a competency framework for completion in the workplace with mentor supervision.

- What is RSV?
- Public Health vaccination program for RSV vaccination
- Undertaking a risk assessment of the patient prior to immunisation
- Safe handling and storage of vaccination including infection control
- Practical demonstration to include consultation and procedure
Learning Outcomes
- To provide HCPs with the knowledge and skills required for the procedure of administering RSV vaccination
- To provide the HCPs with resources, education and awareness of the legal issues, accountability and prescribing through delegation
- To provide the mechanisms for the HCPs to be signed off as competent by a trained nurse in their workplace and follow the protocols and framework supplied for safe practice
