When is Croup or Respiratory Syncytial Virus in children safe? How would you know?

This training course is aimed at GPNS /Advanced Clinical Practitioners and AHPs and provided by an expert Paediatric specialist nurse working in primary care. It is recommended for Advanced Practitioners who are managing triage and minor illness in children and will be informative and interactive. Using a blend of case studies, quizzes and group work you will gain knowledge on a range of paediatric presentations. You will leave this course with a greater awareness of appropriate paediatric diagnostics and how to recognise Respiratory presentations and red flags in children. Management and therapeutics will be discussed relating to Paediatric respiratory presentations.

Resources and tools for assessing children and understanding therapeutics will be provided at this event.

Learning Outcomes

  • Increased awareness on paediatric history taking, examination and assessment for children presenting with Respiratory symptoms.
  • Be able to recognise common paediatric respiratory illnesses and know when to refer.
  • Identify and discuss appropriate additional diagnostics required for accurate patient assessment
  • Obtain increased confidence in management, including referral requirements for safe practice
  • Understand therapeutics for managing some of the most common respiratory presentations.
