This virtual half day  course is for any clinician working in primary care who will be undertaking ear care and possible irrigation in the workplace. It will revisit the theory of ear care, exploring the anatomy and physiology of the ear and common ear presentations.
There will be practical assessment of the ear with use of the otoscope incorporating the principles and practice of ear irrigation.

A competency framework will be provided for support and sign off in the workplace this will be discussed

Learning Outcomes

  • To provide the knowledge and skills required for the procedure of irrigating an ear to facilitate wax removal
  • To appreciate differential ear presentations that may present
  • To identify ‘red flags’ and sources of referral in ear care management
