This half day programme is for any HCA or HCP (including TNA / NA / GPA) looking to advance their skills in adult vaccinations and has been designed as a prerequisite in core immunisation knowledge before commencing specific vaccine training.
Best practice within England is that the HCA meets the National Minimum Standards and has experience in health care to include a Portfolio of skills competencies.
After attending this session, the HCA can enrol on vaccine specific course such as Influenza, Shingles and Pneumococcal.
They will also acquire course attendance for treatment injectables such as B12 and Prostap.
Course Content
- Clinical governance / Legal frameworks/ PSDs / Pre risk assessment and consent
- Relevance of anaphylaxis and CPR training
- Awareness of the immune system and how vaccines work
- Understanding the cold chain and sources of information
- Injection technique: how to prepare and administer vaccines
