Julia qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1989 and has enjoyed a diverse career working in the emergency department and acute surgical wards before settling on a career in primary care. Since 1994 Julia has worked in General Practice, building her portfolio of skills to include practice nursing and management of long term conditions. As her career developed she later extended her role becoming a nurse practitioner and independent prescriber.
During this time Julia has worked as a Clinical Matron for health and well-being across both primary care and adult mental health services, introducing physical health educational programmes for mental health clinicians and developed training modules for NVQ qualifications specific to mental health. This innovative role culminated in a prestigious Nursing Times award in 2008 and a further nomination in 2009.
Julia continues to work as a Nurse Practitioner in a large inner city practice in Portsmouth City, maintaining her own professional skills and acknowledging the increasing demands and burden placed on Primary Care services.
Julia remains passionate about nurse training and education, enjoying both the challenges and rewards that this brings. Along with her business partner their joint vision is to make education and learning fun, interactive, easy to understand and practical with realistic expectations for Primary Care.
