Sue Crane MA Ed
Sue is an experienced educator, specialising in professional development and
workplace based learning. She has
run a successful educational consultancy (International Training) since 1993. Her previous experience was in
community and adult learning, the voluntary sector and the United Nations, where
she worked with international students and assisted in a major development
programme for UN staff.
Sue works with the Wessex Deanery. Her current areas of work include appraisal
training and GP doctors in training. Sue also manages the successful protected
learning time project in Portsmouth, for GP practices, and facilitates a range
of training and away days in general practice.
Sue worked extensively on the Portsmouth City Teaching PCT project, including
developing and delivering an organisation-wide leadership development programme.
Sue continues her interest in leadership development, communication skills,
mentorship, and coaching.
Sue has worked with organisations to develop competency-based approaches to
learning, including NACRO (National Association for the Care and Resettlement of
Offenders), and the Dental Vocational Training Scheme. Sue has helped to develop
inter-disciplinary programmes, such as the ALERT programme for junior doctors,
the postgraduate Human Nutrition course for the combined Royal Colleges, and the
Professional Doctorate for the University of Portsmouth. Sue worked with
Professor Graham Gibbs on the national Improving Student Learning project, and
assisted in staff development at many British universities, and the University
of Sri Lanka.
Sue has published in a range of journals, most recently in Mental Health
Practice, looking at the benefits of complementary therapies in relation to
smoking cessation in AMH clients.
